On August 11, 1695, missionary Pedro Salgado stopped on the banks of the Videirinha River and said a mass for 290 people, including priests, Portuguese soldiers and 195 members of the Ximba-Bitu tribe, natives of the region who came to peacefully meet the missionaries. After this celebration, 39 people from the Portuguese delegation fell in love with the region and decided to stay there, founding Villa da Santa Serra.
In 1877, with a population of approximately 995 people, the Villa became the city of Videira da Serrinha, being already considered one of the main places for trips to relax.
In 1965, the city won an award for gastronomy and culture in a competition in which more than 200 cities from all over the world participated.
